Police in York Region say they are searching for a suspect after three women were sexually assaulted within a week in Markham.
Police say all three assaults occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the area of Edward Jeffreys Avenue, between Markham Road and Roy Rainey Avenue. In each incident, police said the suspect was riding a bicycle.
The first incident occurred Aug. 10, at about 6:40 p.m. The victim was walking near Edward Jeffreys Avenue and Mingay Avenue when the suspect allegedly approached her and touched her for a sexual purpose before fleeing.
The second incident took place Friday near Edward Jeffreys Avenue and Roy Rainey Avenue, shortly before 7:30 p.m. Police allege the suspect rode past the victim before turning around, approaching her and sexually assaulting her. He then fled the area.
The third incident happened Monday at around 7 p.m. in the same area. Police say the suspect sexually assaulted the victim while riding past her.
Police described the suspect as a South Asian male with a medium complexion and straight, medium-length black hair. He is believed to be about 18 years old and was seen riding a bicycle that police say appeared to be too small for him.
