A 10-month-old boy who was taken from an apartment on Trethewey Drive on Friday evening was found in Toronto on Saturday in good health.

Kamren Cunningham was found just after 4 p.m. at returned to his mother Saturday evening.

His godmother, Paulette Ransom, said they were relieved and overjoyed to know the happy child was safe and sound.

“He’s always loving,” she told CP24. “He’s just amazing and is always smiling. It’s infectious. He’s used to being around us and having a lot of affection so we’re kind of worried about how he was when he was away from us.”

Police spent much of Saturday going door-to-door in the northwest Toronto neighbourhood after a baby was allegedly abducted by a girl the boy’s mother described as a drifter who had been staying temporarily at the house.

Sometime between 7 and 8 p.m. on Friday night, the houseguest left the Trethewey Drive apartment with the 10-month-old. She allegedly told the boy’s babysitter that the mother had given her permission to take him for a walk.

The teen was later seen pushing the baby in a stroller.

The baby’s mother, 20-year-old Kristen Cunningham Samuel, says the abductor took many of the baby’s personal items from the apartment as well.

"All his clothes are gone, all his diapers are gone, his formula is gone," she told CP24 before her son was located, begging the public to help find him. "Please bring my son back. He is 10 months old and needs his mother."

Police have a 14-year-old girl is in custody in connection with the abduction. She was arrested near Lawrence Avenue West and Weston Road and charged with abduction of an individual under 14 years of age. She is to appear in court on Sunday.

Amber alerts are issued when police believe a child has been abducted and is in danger.
