Ontario's provincial election is still two weeks away, but people can begin casting their ballots Wednesday.

Advance polling stations for the Oct. 6 election opened across the province at 10 a.m.

They will be open every day until Sept. 30 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The location of the nearest advance polling stations is listed on voter cards that were mailed to people this month.

Officials are hoping the extended advance polling days will boost voter turnout.

In 2007, the voter turnout was just 52.1 per cent, one of the lowest totals in more than 30 years.
