The Toronto bicycle store owner facing several counts of theft has now been charged with drug trafficking and possession of 17 pounds of marijuana.

Igor Kenk, 49, was charged after police on Monday found more than eight pounds of the marijuana in a cardboard box in the garage that he rented on Dufferin Street.

The rest of the marijuana was found at a College Street location, the Toronto Star reports.

Kenk, owner of The Bicycle Clinic on Queen Street West, now faces more than 60 theft-related charges.

At least 2,700 bicycles have been recovered by police from three rental storage units.

The investigation began on July 16 after a witness saw Kenk directing a person to steal bicycles near his store.

Toronto man Jean Laveau, 47, has also been charged several counts of theft.

Police say they are getting lots of help from the public.

The bicycles are available for viewing from today through to Thursday at 35 Strachan Avenue and 30 Ordnance Street.

Ruth White, 14 Division superintendent, is urging bike owners to register their bikes on the free TPS online bike registry.

"Take a few minutes to register your bike. It will make it much easier for us to return it to you," she says.

More than 335 bicycles have been returned to their owners so far.
