The Toronto Blue Jays have traded left-hander David Purcey to the Oakland Athletics in a deal to reacquire right-hander Daniel Farquhar.

The 28-year-old Purcey had an 11.57 ERA in five games and 2 1-3 innings, allowing four walks and three hits. He was designated for assignment last Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Farquhar was traded to Oakland on Nov. 17 with right-hander Trystan Magnuson for outfielder Rajai Davis. Farquhar pitched eight shutout innings over four relief appearances this year for triple-A Sacramento of the Pacific Coast League, striking out nine.

Toronto said Monday that Farquhar will report to triple-A Las Vegas.
