TORONTO - Former attorney general Michael Bryant, who is facing criminal charges after a car accident killed a cyclist last summer, is working at a top law firm in Toronto.

John West, a senior partner at Ogilvy Renault, says Bryant has joined the firm as a senior adviser working with the energy law team.

As a former minister of economic development, West says Bryant can bring value to the firm.

Bryant was charged with criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving following an incident with cyclist Darcy Allan Sheppard on Aug. 31 in Toronto.

According to police, the bike courier grabbed onto a car in Toronto's Yorkville district following an altercation with the driver.

The driver drove away with Sheppard hanging on. He then fell and suffered fatal injuries.
