TORONTO - Toronto police have released the results from the Canada Safety Week Campaign conducted earlier this month.

The week-long campaign from May 16 to 23 was geared towards raising awareness of the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

Police paid close attention to the four leading causes of collisions and injuries related to collisions:

  • Impaired driving (drug or alcohol)
  • Passenger restraints (including seatbelts and child seats)
  • Aggressive driving (including speeding, racing and stunt driving)
  • Distracted driving

During the blitz, Toronto police laid 105 alcohol-related charges, 8181 aggressive driving-related charges, 881 distracted driving-related charges and 373 charges related to seatbelt and child safety seat offences.
