The city's capital budget - released yesterday - is calling for $1.6 billion of repair work to be done over the next year on the TTC, libraries, community centres and the long-delayed 311 city information line.

Meanwhile, $800 million is being set aside for road repairs over the next five years to fill potholes and resurface roads.

The budget indicates Toronto's net debt will rise to $2.7 billion, up $100 million from its current level.

But some critics say the money won't be enough and the city will only be able to reduce its road repair backlog.
