BEIJING - The clock is now ticking for Toronto to put together its bid for the 2015 Pan American Games.

The first presentation is only two months away but, Canadian Olympic Committee executive Chris Rudge says it's a deadline they can meet.

With word the federal government is now backing the bid, Rudge says the first step will be for Ontario's premier to arrive in Beijing to make key contacts with the group who selects the winning city.

Then in September the work will start to put together multi-party agreements on how the Games will function and what legacies can be left behind.

Rudge says he's grateful the federal government recognized the benefits of supporting the Games and is confident Toronto and adjacent cities will be able to deliver a plan on time.

The Pan American Games are open to all countries in the Americas and are held every four years.
