Elderly woman dies following afternoon crash in Oshawa

An 80-year-old woman injured in a crash in Oshawa Monday afternoon has died in hospital, Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed.

Ontario Provincial Police said the vehcile ended up in a ditch near Stevenson Road after the driver lost control in the westbound lanes of Highway 401.

The woman was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she died a short time later.

The male driver of the vehicle was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

There is no word on his current condition.
