If money is no object, then there's no shortage of high-performance cars drawing attention at the Canadian International Auto Show.

The Audi R8 5.2 (MTCC south) was making the most noise at the show - literally - as the company started up the two-door sports car and revved the car's baritone-sounding engine for members of the media on Wednesday.

At the heart of the car is a new ten-cylinder engine that pumps out 525 horspower to all four wheels, sending the vehicle to 100 kilometres per hour in 3.9 seconds before it tops out at 315 kilometres per hour.

The design gets a few new extra touches, including a bigger air intakes and wider body work. Eight brake pistons at the front and four at the rear grasp the discs to slow this beast down.

Canadian pricing hasn't been announced, but expect it to be around $180,000.

If you're looking for something Italian, check out the Ferrari 16M Scuderia (MTCC south). It has a smaller engine that produces less power (4.3-litre V8, 503 horsepower) but since it's lighter, the car is two seconds faster to 100 kilometres per hour than the Audi.

This car is also extra special because it's being made to commemorate the Italian automaker's 16 F1 titles. Only 499 of these are being made.

The new Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S (MTCC south) also makes its Canadian debut at the show. Packing a 4.7-litre V8 that produces 433 horsepower, this Maserati sports a tighter ride and a sportier exhaust system, ultimately aimed at enhancing the driving experience.

Not to be outdone, Mercedes-Benz pulled the covers off its new SL65 AMG (MTCC south). With bulging, muscular bodywork, this menacing car will leap to 100 kilometres per hour in only 3.8 seconds thanks to it's massive six litre V12 engine that unleashes 670 horsepower to the wheels.

And although it may be small, Merc's tuning arm Brabus fiddled around with the Smart fortwo coupe 10th anniversary edition.

With only 10 models coming to Canada, this special model produces a whopping 70 horsepower and several unique Brabus design features such as sporty bodywork and a custom interior
