CAIRO, Egypt. - Hosni Mubarak's lawyer and state television are reporting that the ousted Egyptian president has suffered a stroke and is in a coma.

However, a medical official at the hospital where Mubarak has been held under arrest denied the report and said his condition is stable.

Farid el-Deeb, Mubarak's lawyer, said Sunday that doctors were working to bring the 83-year-old Mubarak back to consciousness.
