TORONTO - Canadian lawyers for George Galloway say a decision denying the British MP entry into the country is arbitrary and should be overturned.

Lawyers are arguing before Federal Court in Toronto today that the judge should allow Galloway to enter the country pending a judicial review.

He is scheduled to speak in Toronto on Monday night, but the federal government says Galloway is not admissible to Canada because he engaged in terrorism.

That charge is apparently based on the fact that Galloway delivered humanitarian goods to war-torn Gaza and gave $45,000 to the Hamas government.

Lawyer Barbara Jackman says the "arbitrary" decision was made to quell speech in Canada and was an abuse of the law.

Justice Luc Martineau will reserve his decision until Monday, but Jackman says as long as the decision is made before 2 p.m. -- and it is in Galloway's favour -- Galloway could still make his 7 p.m. speaking engagement.
