Peel police say a lockdown at two Brampton elementary schools has been lifted following reports from students that two suspects with a gun were seen running through the area.

No suspects were found after an extensive police investigation and police say they have no reason to believe a crime was committed in the area.

Students from Treeline Public School and Holy Spirit Elementary School are now free to go home as usual.

The lockdown began after a nine-year-old and an 11-year-old told school officials that they saw people jumping a fence and heading away from Treeline school.

The school is located at 145 Treeline Blvd, near Airport and Castlemore Roads. Holy Spirit is nearby, at 25 Bloomsbury Ave. Both are northeast of the intersection of Airport and Castlemore Roads.
