TORONTO - Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Jonas Gustavsson has undergone minor heart surgery.

The Leafs say Gustavsson had the procedure in London, Ont., after he was examined by the same specialists who treated him last season when he was first diagnosed with an abnormal heart rhythm.

He has since undergone two heart surgeries to treat the condition.

The Swedish goaltender was pulled Wednesday following the first period of the Toronto Marlies victory over the Connecticut Whale due to an elevated heart rate.

It was his second straight start since being assigned to the A-H-L for a two-week conditioning stint.

That conditioning assignment has since been suspended and Gustavsson has been placed on injured reserve.

The club also says he can resume workouts in seven days.
