Peel police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 35-year-old Brampton man who failed to show up to court to face several human trafficking-related charges.

According to police, a woman contacted police three years ago advising them that a man had introduced her to prostitution and that she had subsequently worked in the Greater Toronto Area.

The victim said she earned large sums of money under the control of the man, who was physically and emotionally abuse to her. She alleged he also threatened to kill her if she left the sex trade.

In July 2013, a suspect was arrested in connection with the case.

The suspect was charged with a number of offences, including procuring a person to become a prostitute, trafficking in persons, and assault with a weapon.

On May 9, Darren Jordan failed to appear for his Superior Court trial and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

“Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in determining Jordan’s whereabouts,” police said in a release late Friday afternoon.

“If seen, please do not approach and call police immediately.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-453-2121 ext. 3515 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
