A seven-year-old Corgi named 'Smidgie' has been reunited with her owner after the dog was stolen along with a pickup truck in Brampton Friday.

Smidgie’s owner, Wayne Cardinal, confirmed to CP24 that police found the pooch in the Rotary Park area in Orangeville Saturday.

The canine’s ordeal began on Friday afternoon, when Cardinal’s truck was stolen from a No Frills plaza near Queen Street East and Highway 410 in Brampton around 1:30 p.m.

Cardinal said the vehicle was turned off and locked when he left Smidgie inside while he popped into a fish and chips shop.

Devastated when he discovered the truck and the dog were missing, he went to police for help.

Speaking with CP24 Friday, Cardinal said he and his wife consider Smidgie, a retired show dog, almost as a ‘second child.’

The pooch was equipped with locator microchip. It’s not clear if that’s how she was located.

It’s not clear how Smidgie got to the area where she was found. The truck itself has not yet been located.
