They don't call it Sufferin' Street for nothing.

Voters in an online poll have named Dufferin Street in Toronto the worst road in Ontario for the third year in a row.

Motorists have long complained about the deteriorating state of the busy road, which has been included in CAA South Central Ontario’s annual worst roads list eight times.

Seven roads in Toronto made the top 10 this year.

More than 2,000 roads across Ontario were nominated in the poll, which calls on governments to fix streets, highways and bridges that are in bad shape.

Potholes and crumbling pavement were the most common complaints from commuters.

CAA is placing more emphasis on this year’s list because it is being released in the middle of provincial and municipal elections and federal byelections in two Toronto ridings.

Here is the full top 10 list:

  1. Dufferin Street (Toronto)
  2. Stanley Avenue (Niagara Falls)
  3. Kipling Avenue (Toronto)
  4. Finch Avenue West (Toronto)
  5. Burlington Street East (Hamilton)
  6. Bayview Avenue (Toronto)
  7. Carling Avenue (Ottawa)
  8. Markham Road (Toronto)
  9. Lawrence Avenue East (Toronto)
  10. Wilson Avenue (Toronto)

All the roads on the top 10 list have been verified by the Ontario Road Builders’ Association, CAA says.
