An 18-year-old man is in custody in connection with a video that shows a teen girl being slammed to the sidewalk in Brampton Tuesday, Peel police have confirmed.

According to police, the video was shot on Wexford Drive. Police said they were notified of a fight by the principal of a nearby high school shortly after 4:15 p.m.

The 20-second video, which began circulating on Twitter Tuesday night, shows a female being picked up and slammed to the ground by a male who then walks out of frame.

The victim, identified by police as a 15-year-old girl, was initially found unresponsive at the scene. She was transported to hospital after regaining consciousness.

She is expected to make a full recovery.

Speaking exclusively with CP24 Tuesday evening, the teen said that an argument preceded the altercation caught on tape.

“I think something was said to that guy who threw me down, I don’t know, I don’t remember, and I just woke up in the ambulance,” she said.

“I’ve been told that this guy picked me up and threw me down.”

She added that she doesn’t know the man involved in the incident.

A number of people who witnessed the incident are cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Joshua Gordon, 18, of Brampton is currently in custody, Peel police Const. Fiona Thivierge said Tuesday night.

He has not been formally charged.
