OAKVILLE, Ont. - An Oakville man is charged with assaulting a 76-year-old man after a confrontation between their two dogs.

Police say the men and their pets first crossed paths Monday on Shannon Trail. They say the pair pulled the dogs apart and walked off in opposite directions.

The men met again on the trail a short time later and police say that's when one of them punched the other in the face.

They say the older man fell down, cutting his knee.

Police say the 63-year-old suspect fled the scene, but turned himself in Saturday after being identified.

Graeme Griffith has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. He is set to appear in a Milton court in August.
