A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital with a gunshot wound after a shooting at a nightclub in the Exhibition Place area early Tuesday.

Police said the shooting took place outside the nightclub on Saskatchewan Road near Dufferin Street around 3:50 a.m. when paid duty officers reported hearing five or six shots fired.

When paramedics arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was rushed to a trauma centre with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries, a Toronto EMS spokesperson said.

Following the shooting, officers with police dogs could be seen scouring an area in front of the club cordoned off with yellow police tape.

Rapper Drake was hosting an after-party for his OVO Fest concert tour at Muzik Nightclub late Monday night. However It’s not known if he was at or near the nightclub at the time of the shooting.

Police could not immediately confirm if the people involved in the shooting were at the club beforehand.

No suspect information has been provided so far.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to get in touch with investigators.
