Peel Regional Police is launching a new buy and sell exchange zone in Brampton today in an effort to make online transactions safer for buyers and sellers.
The new exchange zone is set up in the parking lot of 22 Division, located at 7750 Hurontario Street in Brampton.
The launch comes as Peel Regional Police marks the start of Crime Prevention Week.
“The Buy and Sell Exchange Zone is a crime prevention initiative aimed at reducing violent crime,” a news release issued by the police service read.
“Members of the public are reminded to consider their safety when conducting online buy and sell transactions.”
The exchange zone, which includes two signed parking spaces, is monitored by surveillance cameras.
“Peel Regional Police are the first police department in the Greater Toronto Region to have a fully signed zone of this kind,” the service said in the news release.
