GO Transit says service has resumed on its Stouffville line after a train struck an SUV earlier this afternoon.

It happened near Finch and Midland avenues at around 3:30 p.m.

According to Metrolinx Spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins, two occupants of the SUV suffered very minor injuries as a result of the accident.

Service was suspended for about 90 minutes while police investigated, however it resumed shortly after 5 p.m.

“Fortunately our train was able to engage its emergency brake and got stopped just about in time. Their vehicle sustained lots of damage but the passengers managed to walk away,” Marie Aikins told CP24.
