Although parts of southern Ontario could see one of the warmest Remembrance Days on record tomorrow with an anticipated high of 14 C, below-seasonal temperatures are on the horizon, according to Dave Phillips, a senior climatologist with Environment Canada.

“Tomorrow is going to be six degrees warmer than normal and by the end of the week, we will see temperatures that are six degrees cooler than normal,” Phillips told CP24 Monday.

“I don’t think this should scare the living daylights out of you, this cold air. I mean this is Canada.”

While Western Canada and northern Ontario have already been hit with snow, the white stuff has been relatively absent across the GTA. Snowfall could come by the end of the week as Environment Canada says there is a chance of flurries on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

“The important thing is this; just because it has come a little early, doesn’t mean it is going to stay put,” Phillips said.

“We are still holding out for the fact that this winter will be much milder than last winter.”

Phillips said people should use this as an opportunity put on snow tires and put the lawn furniture away before the snow begins to fly.

“Hey, we know that winter is coming. We’ve never cancelled it and we are not going to this year,” he said.

“This is just nature’s way of reminding us not to procrastinate and get on with it.”
