Pat Quinn will be named head coach of Canada's national junior hockey team on Wednesday, according to reports.

Citing unnamed sources, The Canadian Press says the former Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs coach will be behind Canada's bench for the 2008-09 world junior championships, to be held in Ottawa.

The Hamilton native has twice been head coach of Canada's Olympic team. In 2002, Team Canada won Olympic gold for the first time in 50 years, and in 2006, the team finished off the podium.

Quinn also coach Canada to the final World Cup championship just before the NHL lockout and led Canada's Under-18 team to the world championship last season in Kazan, Russia, winning the gold medal game 8-0 over the host team.
