TORONTO - A report says the province will try to seize accused bicycle thief Igor Kenk's bike shop and nearly 2,300 bicycles seized last summer in Toronto.

The Globe and Mail says Kenk will be in court Monday for a forfeiture hearing under the controversial Civil Remedies Act.

That act lets the province seize and sell property believed to be connected to crime -- regardless of whether the owner has been convicted or charged.

Kenk has been in custody since December and a preliminary hearing for charges relating to stolen bicycles and drugs won't start until March.
