MONTREAL - The rain-soaked US$2 million Rogers Cup has moved its singles final to Monday, but the doubles players were able to move indoors and get semifinal matches played on Sunday.

The singles final is now set for 1:30 p.m. ET on Monday at Uniprix Stadium.

Flavia Pennetta of Italy and Gisela Dulko of Argentina defeated Monica Niculescu of Romania and Shahar Peer of Israel 6-2, 3-6 (10-4) in a doubles semifinal played at the Nuns' Island Tennis Club.

Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain and Yan Zi of China face Kveta Paschke of the Czech Republic and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia in the other semifinal.

The doubles final will be played later Sunday.

Singles matches must be played outdoors, but so far the weather has not co-operated.

Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark and Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia started their match after a four-hour delay on Saturday. Wozniacki led 2-0, 0-15 before rains came again and wiped out play for the day. Victoria Azarenka and vera Zvonareva never got to play a point.

More rain fell Sunday but organizers still hoped to get the two semifinals played.

It is the second time in the last three occasions when the women's Rogers Cup is held on alternate years in Montreal that the final will be played on a Monday. In 2006, heavy rain postponed the final, eventually won 6-2, 6-3 in only 58 minutes by Ana Ivanovic over Martina Hingis.
