Jim Nill has been named Canada's general manager for the upcoming world hockey championship in Prague.

Nill, GM of the NHL's Dallas Stars, has a history with Hockey Canada. He helped Canada win the world championship title as director of player personnel in 2003 and GM in 2004.

Joining Nill on the management team are former Washington Capitals GM George McPhee, former Toronto Maple Leafs assistant GM Claude Loiselle, Arizona Coyotes goaltending coach Sean Burke, Tampa Bay Lightning assistant GM Pat Verbeek and Scott Salmond of Hockey Canada.

Rob Blake, assistant GM of the Los Angeles Kings, was GM last year when Canada lost in the quarter-finals.

The tournament begins May 1.
