A 16-year-old boy is in serious condition after collapsing during a rugby game on Thursday afternoon.

Police say the teen fell to the ground on the sports field at Pope John Paul the Second Catholic Secondary School, near Morningside Avenue and Highway 401

The teen is a student at Marshall McLuhan Catholic School and was participating in a rugby game between the two schools.

He was first reported to be without vital signs before being transported to a trauma centre. Police say the boy may have suffered a medical complication during the normal course of the game.
