The Vancouver Whitecaps traded midfielder Terry Dunfield to Toronto FC on Thursday, giving up the lone player born in the city for allocation money and future considerations.

The 29-year-old Dunfield has one goal and three assists in 12 MLS games this season.

The five-foot-seven 165-pound Dunfield has six caps for Canada.

Dunfield joined Vancouver last year prior to its admission to MLS. He spent time in Manchester City's youth program before moving to Bury, Macclesfield Town, and Shrewsbury Town in England.

Dunfield started 11 of 12 games but nine of those were under former coach Teitur Thordarson.

His role has been reduced under new coach Tom Soehn.
