LONDON - British police say five men have been arrested on suspicion of planning terrorist acts.

Authorities said Tuesday the men were arrested by the Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism unit in a pre-planned, intelligence-led operation.

Police say the men range in age from 21 to 30 and were arrested at separate homes in the town of Luton north of London.

They are being questioned in a London police station.

Police say search warrants were obtained under the Terrorism Act 2000.
