TORONTO - Wayne Gretzky's father says he'd like to smash a world record in street hockey.

The Great One's dad, Walter Gretzky, says 205 teams have signed up to play in his annual street hockey tournament next weekend in Brantford, Ont.

Organizers say that tops the Guinness World Record of 195 teams.

The elder Gretzky was promoting the tournament at the Ontario legislature, where he dropped the ball in a faceoff between Speaker Steve Peters and Liberal Dave Levac.

He says street hockey is great sport because you don't have to be a millionaire to play -- all kids can enjoy it.

Gretzky says he lent his support to the tournament -- now in its fourth year -- because sports gave his family everything it has.
