Peel police are looking for witnesses to a multi-car crash in Brampton that killed a woman and injured two other people, including a young girl.

Amandeep Kaur Dhillon, 27, had been travelling northbound on Finch Avenue with her two-year-old daughter in the car at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Her Acura collided with a Ford Explorer after it entered the intersection at Steeles Avenue.

The vehicles lost control, striking a Honda Civic and a Ford pickup.

Dhillon was pronounced dead at the scene, while her daughter -- who was in the rear passenger seat -- was transferred to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.

The girl was properly secured in a car seat, which police credit with saving her life.

The front-seat passenger in the car was a 23-year-old Brampton woman, who was airlifted to hospital where she remains in serious condition.

The 58-year-old woman driving the Explorer was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. The other drivers involved were not hurt.

Police closed the intersection for about eight hours in order to investigate the scene. No charges have been laid.

People working in the area said Wednesday that crashes are common at that intersection. A makeshift memorial remains can still be seen there, marking the spot where a youth was killed last October.
