Hamilton police have released new photos of a man accused of stealing poppy boxes from three Tim Hortons stores.

Police believe the same man is responsible for all the thefts, which occurred within a span of six days.

The latest theft occurred at a Tim Hortons on Barton Street East in Hamilton on Tuesday at about 1:20 a.m.

Police said the same man stole poppy boxes from two Tim Hortons locations in Hamilton, on Ottawa Street North and King Street West, on Nov. 3.

In those incidents, police said the suspect is an East Asian man in his 20s who is five-foot-eight and 165 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and a goatee.

He was wearing a dark blue jacket with a white stripe down the sleeves and a logo on the back, and dark jeans, police said.

In each case, the suspect grabbed boxes off the counter while employees were busy and ran out of the store.

It's not known how much cash was stolen.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call police at 905-546-4925 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Ontario has seen a rash of poppy box thefts in recent weeks, including incidents in Toronto, Trenton and North Bay. The Royal Canadian Legion, which supplies the poppy boxes and collects donations for services and programs, is looking at ways to prevent additional thefts.
