Three motorcyclists are facing charges and a fourth is being sought for allegedly racing and doing “wheelies” on an Ontario highway, provincial police say.

OPP said a concerned motorist tipped off an officer after passing the motorcyclists on Highway 400, north of Barrie, on Saturday afternoon.

Barrie-based members of the OPP’s highway safety division took positions north of the bikers’ reported location and clocked the group’s speed at 165 kilometres-per-hour in a 100-km/h zone as they sped by, police said Monday in a news release.

Officers caught up to the group and apprehended three of the four motorcyclists.

Three men, aged 20 to 36, are charged with racing and have had their driver’s licences suspended and motorcycles seized for seven days.

The fourth motorcyclist, if caught, will face an additional charge of fleeing police, OPP said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call investigators at 705-726-3930.
