One man is dead and another man injured following a shooting in a northern Manitoba First Nation Tuesday evening.
According to an alert from Manitoba RCMP, the shooting happened in Norway House Cree Nation, located roughly 800 kilometres north of Winnipeg, at the Playgreen Inn bar. RCMP say they found two men just south of Lagoon Road suffering from gunshot wounds.

In its most recent update Wednesday morning, RCMP said one of the injured, a 25-year-old man, has since died. A second victim, a 38-year-old man, was treated and released from hospital.
The community was put in lockdown after the shooting.
Mounties said residents can expect a significant RCMP presence throughout the day Wednesday. They are urged to lock their doors.
In its alert, Norway House Cree Nation said the suspected shooter was seen running into the bush of nearby Fort Island.
A description of the suspect was not provided, but RCMP said he should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
In a Wednesday morning news release, Norway House Cree Nation said it’s believed the shooting was a targeted act.
They said the lockdown is expected to be lifted in the afternoon, with a full reopening of schools and businesses. However, the community is asked to remain alert.
“While there is no indication of a broader threat to the public, the suspect has not yet been apprehended, and continued vigilance is essential,” the statement reads.
Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 204-359-6715.
