Scot MacDermid, 42, and his children, George, 6, and Lesley, 9, are considered missing in Edmonton after being out of contact since Aug. 28.

Edmonton police are looking to identify a man seen with a 42-year-old man and his two children, the three of whom were reported missing last month.

Scot MacDermid and his children, six-year-old George and nine-year-old Lesley, were spotted with an unknown man around 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 in Lloydminster.

Investigators have released photos of the man in the hopes of identifying him.

An Amber Alert was not issued at the time, Edmonton police said, because the “activation criteria (were) not met.”

CTV News Edmonton asked EPS if the father has custody of the children, if their mother is looking for them, and whether they are in danger, but police said they could not give that information right now.

After a Thursday police commission meeting, EPS Chief Warren Driechel told reporters kids “not where they need to be” is “always a concern.”

“I can’t say much about the investigation. I can tell you this is very complex and behind-the-scenes, and the team has been doing a lot of work to uncover the next steps,” he said.

Anyone with information about the identity of the unknown man or the whereabouts of MacDermid, George or Lesley is asked to call Edmonton police at 780-423-4567.
