The family of a missing Toronto man made an emotional plea for help Thursday as police officers continue to look for clues in his disappearance.

At a news conference, Richard Bailey's family, including his wife Donna, urged him to contact relatives or police, who are investigating the 60-year-old man's disappearance, and they asked the public to call detectives if they know where he is.

Bailey’s family and police are concerned about his well-being because they say his disappearance is extremely out of character and he never deviates from his daily routine.

Bailey vanished after he and his wife spent "a fine day" together in Niagara Falls on Sunday and then returned to their home near College Street and Euclid Avenue, said police Det. Rob MacInnis.

The last time his wife saw him was Sunday at about 9 p.m., when they went to bed.

Bailey, who works at a food manufacturer, was scheduled to start work Monday at 9 a.m., but he failed to show up for his shift.

His family said he has been dealing with "stress" at work.

MacInnis said there are no mental illness or health concerns, and foul play is not a factor.

“I’m told by (his wife) this is extremely out of character for Richard," MacInnis told CP24 reporter Jamie Gutfreund. "He’s never been known to leave home and not come back in the past, and obviously she’s frantic with worry."

According to Bailey's family, he takes the same route to work every morning.

He walks to Christie Station at about 5:50 a.m. and then takes a westbound subway train to Dufferin Station, where he boards a northbound bus.

He takes the bus to Dufferin Street and Tycos Drive, south of Lawrence Avenue West, and then walks to his workplace, which is nearby.

Bailey is described as white, five-foot-eight and 150 pounds with short, grey hair. He has no teeth and he does not have his dentures with him, according to police.

He was last seen wearing a bomber-style jacket that is mostly black and green, possibly moss green, in colour, and brown loafers with tassels on the front. He usually wears wire-framed eyeglasses.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call police at 416−808−1400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416−222−TIPS (8477).
