Toronto police confirm they have located a woman's remains on a trail near Alliance Avenue and Humber Boulevard on Friday.

They are treating the case as a homicide.

Police have not identified the victim.

On Monday, investigators were seen removing dumpsters located near a building on Humber Boulevard.

One woman who lives in the area told CP24 that police asked her if she saw anyone with a black duffle bag that had a red and green trim.

She said police also searched her yard for evidence.

It is believed the woman’s remains were in the duffel bag, which was found by a local resident who then alerted police.

An officer at the scene told CP24 police will provide an update on the case either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Homicide investigators also spent part of the day at an apartment block on Shuter Street. Police would neither confirm or deny a link between the two scenes.
