Alcohol is suspected in a fiery crash that sent three men to hospital early Monday morning.

The men were in a Jeep that went out of control and struck a tree, snapping it in half, on Huntington Road, north of Nashville Road, in Vaughan at about 2:40 a.m.

After hitting the tree, the Jeep flipped and caught fire, said York Regional Police spokesman Const. Andy Pattenden.

All three occupants fled the crash scene on foot, so police brought in their helicopter to search for them. The men were located in nearby fields, Pattenden told CP24.

Two of the men were taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said 28-year-old Cave Chance, a Caledon resident, was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08.
