A male is in custody after a man and woman were injured in a double stabbing early Friday morning, Toronto police say.

Members of the emergency task force and other officers set up a perimeter and searched a neighbourhood after the stabbing occurred at a townhouse complex in the 4000 block of Dundas Street West, near Scarlett Road, at about 4:15 a.m.

About two hours later, police arrested the suspect at a home on Lauder Avenue, south of Vaughan Road, about five kilometres away from the stabbing scene.

The stabbing victims, a man who is about 30 years old and a woman in her 60s, were taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Toronto EMS and police officials told CP24.

The man was reportedly stabbed in the shoulder and abdomen, while the woman reportedly suffered a gash to her left hand.
