A man has been arrested and charged with murdering his wife after she was found dead at a home in Thornhill.

York Regional Police were called to a house on Gilmore Crescent in the New Westminster Drive and Steeles Avenue area Wednesday evening.

Police found a 36-year-old female dead at the home and her death is being treated as a homicide police said Wednesday night.

The woman's husband, a 43-year-old man, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. No cause of death has been released. Another man found at the home was arrested at the scene but later released unconditionally, police said.

The man is expected to make a court appearance in Newmarket on Thursday morning, police said.
