One man has been transported to hospital in serious condition following a house fire in Brampton.
Firefighters were called to the home on Skegby Road, in the Kennedy Road and Williams Parkway area, for initial reports of a basement fire.
Surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution, Peel police said in a tweet.
The victim was transported to hospital in serious, but stable condition suffering from burns, paramedics said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Crews remain at the scene.
