Police say they have found the tractor trailer believed to have been involved in a fatal crash on the QEW on Tuesday but investigators are still looking for the person who was responsible for the hit and run.

Ontario Provincial Police Const. Dave Woodford told CP24 the truck was found in a repair shop in Brampton on Wednesday but officers could not inspect the vehicle until they received search warrants Thursday morning.

The truck is believed to have been involved in a devastating crash with a minivan Tuesday morning on the QEW in Beamsville. Police say the minivan was pushed into a ditch after it was rear ended by a truck.

Several of the occupants, including a baby, were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over.

An 11-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Woodford said the story received a lot of attention in the media and because of that, officers received several tips.

“Every tip we got we followed up on and eliminated all of those until we found one that fit,” he said.

One of the tips they received came from a company official who told police the truck likely belonged to one of their contractors.

Woodford also said that police have identified a suspect in connection with the case.

“The next stage is finding the driver. We know who he is, then he will be charged,” he said.
