Durham Regional Police are looking for a suspect after a 13-year-old girl told investigators she was grabbed and inappropriately touched by a male near her Ajax school late Friday morning.

Police said the girl was walking back to Romeo Dallaire Public School at about 11:50 a.m. when she was approached by a stranger in a wooded area across from the school.

The male grabbed the girl by the wrist and she pulled her arm away, but the male then touched the girl in an inappropriate way, police said in a news release.

She was able to escape and run back to school.

The suspect is a white male who has a medium build and blue or green eyes. He was unshaven with grey stubble and was wearing a dark blue tuque, dark blue or black windbreaker/winter coat with a zipper down the front, and light grey track pants, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5339 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
