Toronto police are investigating after a man walked in to an Etobicoke hospital suffering from gunshot wounds this morning.

According to police, at around 2:20 a.m. a 23-year-old arrived at the hospital suffering from gunshot wounds to the hand and lower extremities.

Police say the victim had been walking in the area of Highway 27 and Vice Regent Boulevard when he heard shots ring out. The man realized he had been shot and made his own way to hospital, police said.

He was later transferred to a trauma centre and is expected to survive.

No suspect information has been released at this time and police say the investigation is ongoing.
