Durham Regional Police have released a surveillance camera image of a man wanted in connection with three robberies of financial institutions in Oshawa, Newcastle and Bowmanville over the past four days.

On Tuesday morning at 11:45 a.m., police say they were called to the Auto Workers’ Credit Union on King Street East in Bowmanville for a report of a robbery.

Witnesses said a male suspect entered the premises, passed a note to a teller demanding money and fled the scene on foot with an unknown quantity of cash. Officers and a canine unit searched the area but failed to locate him.

No one was injured during the encounter, police said.

Police believe the same suspect robbed an RBC branch on Taunton Road in Oshawa on Apr. 23 and a CIBC branch on King Avenue in Newcastle on Apr. 25.

The suspect is described as a white male, standing five-feet-seven inches tall, with dark hair and a beard. During the Bowmanville incident he was seen wearing a black baseball hat, a black hooded coat and prescription glasses.

Police say the suspect may be driving a silver four-door Dodge pickup truck.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Det. Houston at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5360, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
