Prince Edward Island’s first female hockey player to join the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) was honoured in her hometown over the weekend.
The Municipality of Miminegash hosted an “Abby Day” celebration complete with a pancake breakfast, parade, autographs and fireworks.
A sign was unveiled during the event that reads “Welcome to Miminegash, Home of Abby Hustler.”
Hustler was also presented with the inaugural “Excellence in Sport” pin.
The province says the pin recognizes Islanders who have excelled at the highest level of their sport, shown exceptional leadership, and made lasting impacts on P.E.I.
“Abby’s achievement reflects her dedication and athleticism. As PEI’s first female player in the PWHL, she is inspiring Islanders and leaving her mark on the sport. It is an honour to recognize her with the inaugural Excellence in Sport Pin,” said Fisheries, Rural Development and Tourism Minister Ernie Hudson in a release.
The pin features an image of flowing waves, sandy shores and fields.
Hustler, 23, was drafted No. 14 overall by the Minnesota Frost in the 2025 PWHL Draft.
Last month, it was announced she signed a two-year contract ahead of PWHL Hamilton’s inaugural season.
