TORONTO — The Blue Jays have recalled infielder/outfielder Davis Schneider from triple-A Buffalo ahead of their three-game home series against Detroit.
Schneider will be active for tonight’s game against the Tigers.
The 27-year-old has split the season between Toronto and Buffalo, batting .142 with four homers and 12 RBIs in 62 games with the Blue Jays and .220 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs in 52 games with the Bisons.
Toronto also recalled left-hander Brendan Cellucci, who had a 3.06 ERA in 46 minor-league appearances this season.
Left-hander Ricky Tiedemann was optioned to Buffalo, while outfielder Rudy Martin Jr. was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
The Blue Jays entered Monday at 75-75, one game behind Cleveland for the final American League wild-card spot.
