A teenage girl struck by a vehicle in Brampton yesterday afternoon has died, Peel police have confirmed.

Paramedics were called to the intersection of Centre Street North and Prouse Drive for a report that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle shortly before 5 p.m.

According to police, the child was struck by an off-duty officer who was on their way to work.

The 13-year-old victim was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In an update provided late Friday afternoon, police said the girl died in hospital earlier today. Her name has not yet been released.

No charges have yet been laid, police said. The investigation continues.
